The Geologic Evolution of Greater Thaumasia

Thaumasia Planum and the surrounding regions are geochemically distinct from their surroundings, as seen by the Mars Oddysey Gamma-Ray Spectrometer. We explore the regional geochemistry and mineralogy to support a view that a persistent volcanic system, stemming from an evolving mantle is responsible for the unique signatures.
